Sylvester Stallone expresses confidence in Ryan Gosling potential to take role in 'Rambo'

Sylvester Stallone has suggested the chance to pass his iconic role of Rambo to Ryan Gosling as he expressed his conviction on his potential to take over the character.

While conversing with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, the First Blood star shared his admiration for the Barbie actor and he opened up about the effective impact of Stallone on Ken, the character portrayed by Gosling.

Further, the 77-year-old star mentioned that The Notebook actor is a big fan of the Rambo series.

Stallone shared about Gosling, "I met him at a dinner and obviously we're opposites. He's good-looking — I'm not. That's how it works."

He went on to say, "Seriously, can you imagine me as Ken? That doesn't work at all."


The Expendables star further stated, "But he goes, 'I was fascinated by Rambo, and I used to go to school dressed as Rambo and people would chase me away and I still didn't stop.”

Stallone, known for his role in Rambo where he portrayed the character of a Vietnam War veteran who faced challenges in civilian life and then took other military missions, revealed, "He just kept saying that he had a lot of affiliation with Rambo, and I thought, this is interesting. If I ever pass the baton, I'll pass it on to him because he loves the character."

On asking about the possibility of the idea becoming the reality, he shared, "I would say yes, but I don't know if anyone would say hey, he's too good-looking to be Rambo."

Gosling also shared his interest, during a conversation with Jay Leno in 2011, he said, “So when I was a kid I saw Rambo: First Blood and then the movie put a spell on me and I thought I was Rambo,"

He added, "I even thought my face felt like Sylvester Stallone's."

"I put a bunch of steak knives in my Fischer Price kit and I took it to school the next day and I threw them at all the kids at recess," the La La Land star recalled.

Goling revealed, "I got suspended and I didn't hit anybody, and I'm sorry. I don't think it's cool."

For the unversed, Stallone made his appearance in five Rambo movies; the series started with 1982's First Blood and the last part of Rambo: Last Blood, was released in 2019.
