America Ferrera expressed her views on her Academy Awards nomination for her role in Barbie, and she also responded to the notable absence of Margot Robbie and director Greta Gerwig in their respective categories.

Speaking to Variety on Tuesday, the 39-year-old Ferrera responded to her nomination, “I was incredibly disappointed that they weren’t nominated.”

Ferrera commented on Gerwig's exclusion from the Best Director category, expressing her thoughts on Gerwig not being among the five nominees, “Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it,”

Expressing her disappointment, she continued, “Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list.”

Regarding Robbie, who has garnered two previous Oscar nominations for acting, the Superstore star shared, "What [she] achieved as an actress is truly unbelievable" in Barbie.

"One of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. And perhaps people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy," she said.

Ferrera added, "But Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen, and it was one of the honors of my career to get to witness her pull off the amazing performance she did."

She concluded, "She brings so much heart and humor and depth and joy and fun to the character," adding, "In my book, she’s a master.”
