Jimmy Buffett, an iconic American singer-songwriter and businessman, passed away at the age of 76, according to a statement posted on his social media.

On Saturday, the statement read, "Passed away peacefully on the night of September 1 surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many."

Jimmy Buffett, best known for his iconic hit number Margaritaville, produced a number of other hit beachy soft-rock songs in his career spanning over five decades.

Following the news of Jimmy’s tragic passing, a number of renowned celebrities and fans took to the social media platforms and paid heartwarming tributes to the singer.

British legend Sir Elton John paid tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett. He wrote, "Jimmy Buffet was a unique and treasured entertainer. His fans adored him and he never let them down."

"This is the saddest of news, a lovely man gone way too soon," he continued. Elton John expressed condolences to Jimmy's wife Jane and his three children Savannah, Sarah and Cameron, writing, "Condolences to Jane and the family from David and me."

Another fan added, ““I’m absolutely gutted and crying right now over your death. Rest In Peace, Paradise and Love. Jimmy Buffet you are a legend to admire.”

An internet user commented, “Enjoy your cheeseburger in paradise, my friend, see you in Margaritaville RIP.”

According to the Guardian, Jimmy Buffett was listed at number 13 in Forbes' America's Richest Celebrities list in 2016 with a net worth of $550 million. In 2023, the magazine estimated his net worth at $1 billion.
